ABOUT THIS SEMINAR

The Immigration Practitioner Centre will host the second seminar in its Continuing Professional Development (CPD) series, titled "AI and Cybersecurity for Immigration Practice - Part Two," on April 10, 2025.

Each seminar in this series is two hours long, providing the opportunity to earn a total of four CPD hours within the 2024–2025 Annual CPD Reporting Period. The first seminar in this series took place on November 7, 2024.

The focus of the second seminar is to provide Immigration Practitioners with deeper insights into the practical applications of AI in their practice, as well as to emphasize the critical importance of cybersecurity measures. This seminar will explore how AI can streamline various aspects of immigration practice while addressing the need for heightened vigilance to protect sensitive data and maintain client trust.

It is essential for RCICs and RISIAs to recognize the growing importance of incorporating AI tools and robust cybersecurity practices into their professional operations.

This seminar will feature the two previous RCICs who introduced ‘AI and Cybersecurity for Immigration Practice’ on November 7, 2024 and they will present on the following topics:
  • Neha Batta – RCIC-IRB – Further Introduction to AI Use for Immigration Practice Part Two: Legal research tools powered by AI (e.g., LexisNexis, Fastcase); Automation tools for repetitive tasks(e.g. document generation, client follow-ups); AI for client intake and document analysis; Social media and content marketing with AI (e.g., Jasper AI, Hootsuite); Client relationship management systems (e.g., HubSpot, Clio Grow).
  • Eduardo Silva – RCIC – Further Introduction to Cyber Security for Immigration Practice Part Two: Common threats faced by immigration law firms (e.g., phishing, ransomware); Basic Overview of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, PIPEDA); Essential tools for data protection; Email and communication security (e.g., Proofpoint, Duo MFA)and Backup and disaster recovery strategies

This will be followed by a panel discussion comprised of both presenters with a Question and Answer session to end the seminar.

Pre-approved for 2 CPD hours by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants & approved by Law Society of BC.
