ABOUT THIS SEMINAR

As of July 07, 2024, the July 18, 2024, Immigration Practitioner Centre Continuing Professional Development Seminar is incredibly topical and relevant given that the federal government has recently introduced new legislation to extend citizenship to children born abroad, restoring rights of “lost Canadians’.

This Seminar will deal with Citizenship, Residency Obligations, Humanitarian and Compassionate Processing, the Processing of Parents/Grandparents and Super Visas.
The four topics identified for this seminar are inter-related given that we have seen permanent residents lose permanent residency status due to not meeting their residency obligations and foreign nationals with temporary status in Canada look to gain permanent residency status under Humanitarian and Compassionate Considerations.
For the last topic we have been advised that the federal immigration authorities intend to process almost 35,000 Expressions of Interest to sponsor Parents/grandparents that were previously submitted in October 2020. The counterbalance for those who cannot be processed for permanent residence is to offer Super Visas for temporary status in Canada.

The four Canadian Immigration Practitioners will present on the following topics:
  • Proposed Changes for Citizenship for Those Born Abroad

  • Residency Obligations under Section 28 of IRPA

  • Humanitarian and Compassionate Processing

  • Parents/Grandparents Processing and Super Visas

Pre-approved for 4.0 CPD Hours by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants and the BC Law Society
